FLV Editor: Creating Online Movies and Animations

Posted by sanmaykrishna on June 30, 2009

FLV Editor is my favorite tool for editing Flash Videos for my web pages. I can edit my FLV movies and animations using this editor for presenting it properly in my web pages. I can use this editor to import FLV files encoded in popular FLV codecs. I can even use FLV editor to import MP3 files and generate output as FLV or SWF files.

Single Window Interface

I can access all the powerful features of FLV editor from a single widow. The features like edit, split, trim, replace audio, extract video and audio, cut, merge, set cue point and adding metafiles can be accessed from the main window itself. I have easy access to all features and commands in the menu and tool bars. I can also hide any section found in the interface with a mouse click.

I can use the File menu from the Main menu to start a New project, Open an existing project, Save a project, Exit and to Save the project in another name. I can also use the icons in the Tool Bar as a short cut to all the commands in the Menu bar.

Adding Files For Editing

I can import all FLV files and MP3 files using the Import Menu. I also have the choice to import an FLV file from the Media Library or IE cache. I can select the FLV file to be imported by selecting the Import – FLV command. The name of the file to be imported can be selected from the file dialog box. I can view the imported file in the Resource list pane.

What You See Is What You Get

I can view the selected files in the Resources List and choose the required files for editing from there. The selected files can be previewed in Preview Pane either by double clicking or dragging it to the Preview Pane.

I can use the Preview pane for a real time preview of the changes I made in the selected files. The scene I see in this pane is what I actually see in the web pages. I can also view the pane in a larger size using the Window Show – Player Only option. I can then use the Window – Workspace option to go back.

Editing Files

I can add the files for editing by dragging it to the Time Line. I can do the editing more precisely using the time line. The audio and video parts of the files are displayed separately so that I can handle them more easily.

I can perform all the editing operations using the tool bar provided just above the time line.

Metadata information can be added by clicking the Metadata button in the toolbar. I can add items to the metadata by right clicking the Metadata Pane.

I can easily add several FLV files to my project and play it continuously using the join files facility provided in the software.

Screenshot-10

To join two file I only have to enable the snap button and drag the edge of one file close to the other file.

Replacing audio from a FLV file is kids play for me. I only have to select the Unlink button from the Editing tool bar. The audio part and video part can be removed as needed using the delete function. I can then drag the required file to replace the audio.

Exporting The Project

Screenshot-11

I can use the Export function provided in the Main menu to save my project. I can save my project in FLV format or SWF format. I have to enter the name and type of file for saving a project in FLV format. I can also opt for saving the file with or without audio. I usually use this facility to rip audio and video files.

Screenshot-12

I can also save the project to the video converter. But I have to go online to convert the FLV file to other formats. I can export my project to SWF and HTML files for uploading to internet. I can also select the player skin, preloaders, special effects and a profile using this facility.

Screenshot-13

I can customize FLV Editor to meet my requirements using the Preference dialog. The preference widow enables me to get automatic updates and messages when FLV files are imported.

FLV editor is a light weight software that helps me to create wonderful animations and movies for my website. I don’t have to bother about the techniques of video editing while using this software.
